Our History

DID YOU KNOW:  For every $1 spent on oral health preventive measures, taxpayers are saved as much as $50 in restorative and emergency procedures for the underserved and uninsured.

Community Dental Care was founded in 1963, as a program of the City of Dallas. In 1982, Dental Health Programs, Inc. was incorporated and later renamed as Community Dental Care.  In the fifty years since our inception, Community Dental Care has held steady in providing oral health care services and education to those in need, and that need continues to increase dramatically every year.

The mission of Community Dental Care is to provide quality low-cost dentistry in an environment of compassionate care. We are the Texas area’s premier safety net of oral health and dental care services, serving low and moderate income individuals.  Our patients include families, pregnant mothers and infants, children, teens, adults, seniors, homeless persons and those living with HIV/AIDS.

Our uniquely qualified professional team provides a wide range of dental care services, preventive services and restorative treatments, supported by community outreach programs that include special events, dental kits, and oral health education.

Valuable community partnerships play a critical role in our reach to those in need. We appreciate our referral network of over 150 agencies and organizations that help us optimize access for thousands of patients. Our major partners include nationally renowned Sarrell Dental Center, United Way, and Parkland Health & Hospital System, among others.

Our strong, growing network of community-based partnerships has allowed us to become the largest and most respected nonprofit provider of quality routine dental care and education to low-income individuals in Texas.
